| Food Pairing Guide | Pairs beautifully with grilled fish or seafood (prawns, crayfish), creamy poultry dishes, foie gras, goat’s- or blue-cheese, and even mildly spicy or herb-rich dishes |
Simonsig’s Mediterraneo feels like a coastal Mediterranean breeze bottled — a white wine that marries freshness, nuance and a sense of place. It starts bright and elegant, with aromas of white-peach, quince and verbena floating above faint floral perfume, then leads into a palate that balances juicy stone-fruit and citrus with a chalky mineral backbone. The gentle oak ageing adds subtle weight and complexity — a hint of toast, a touch of creamy lees influence — but never overpowers the vibrant fruit and lively acidity. There’s a sophisticated tension: juicy yet restrained, rich yet light, mineral yet smooth. It’s exactly the kind of wine that suits leisurely seafood or lightly spiced dishes — but also stands beautifully on its own when you just want something refined, fresh, and slightly unexpected.
Simonsig The Grapesmith Mediterraneo is a dry white blend primarily of Roussanne and Marsanne, with additional varieties such as Grenache Blanc (and in some vintages a small percentage of Verdelho or Bourboulenc).
The wine is barrel-aged for around 11 months (in French oak) before bottling, giving it structure and subtle oak-derived complexity.
