Thank you to the most wonderful team at Boschendal who made me feel incredibly welcome last week. I had the most amazing day, I learned so much and everyone was so interesting, passionate and wonderful. I saw stunning vineyards with Jacques who is so excited about the grapes and so proud of the incredible sites. It was quite contagious. He explained cultivars, growing directions, soil quality and vine management. I was riveted! In the Cellar, Charl showed me some technical stuff that he was so excited about too (being blonde I have retained little!) Something about pumping and clarifying But I loved it and he showed me how to make natural yeasts with the lovely interns. Danielle is so very good at what she does (I know this as I regularly enjoy her efforts in the UK ) and again displayed such passion for her craft. I just enjoyed the day so much that it sped along way too fast. Absolutely fabulous day at Bellingham last week! Thank you Richard and Riccardo for showing me around, letting me shovel grapes in a tank (what a highlight!!!! Loved it!), putting me through some blind tasting paces and showing me some cool vineyards. I had a fabulous day! Thank you so much!! I am so behind on posting my photos so these posts are going to be in a very random order! I was incredibly spoilt and honoured to go with Daniele to Fryers Cove Vineyards at Doringbaai up the Cape West Coast this week. If you get the chance to go, go!! Dont walk! Run! The wines smack of the salty sea air and they are superb. Heres a little reel to show some of the wonderful wines, the crazy vineyards where no vine should grow, the tank aged wines and some of the most wonderful people! I had my first 2 oysters (possibly my last! But well worth a try!) Thank you to Daniele, Liza and Jan for the most spectacular visit and warm hospitality!)
