This wine feels like a thoughtful reinterpretation of a Northern Rhône-style white — gentle, elegant and richly textured. The Marsanne brings weight and a creamy, rounded core; the Roussanne adds aromatic lift and finesse. From the first swirl, you get lemon-citrus blossoms, baked apple and soft stone-fruit tones, layered with yeasty complexity and a delicate whiff of toasted nuts from oak ageing. The palate offers a structured yet smooth mouthfeel: orchard-fruit depth, chalky minerality and bright acidity give freshness and balance. The result is a wine with serious substance and complexity, but delivered with grace and subtlety — equally at home alongside seafood, poultry or a cheese-board, or simply enjoyed on its own as a fine white that reveals more with time.

Simonsig “The Grapesmith Die Kluisenaar” is a blend of roughly 59% Marsanne and 41% Roussanne, whole-bunch pressed, fermented naturally in older French oak barrels, and aged on the primary lees for about 11 months (with occasional bâtonnage — lees stirring). Malolactic fermentation is avoided to preserve freshness and aromatics.
