Glen Carlou Grand Classique reflects the estate’s commitment to crafting balanced, cellar-worthy Bordeaux-style blends. Aromas of blackcurrant, dark plum and red cherry are layered with hints of cedar, tobacco and spice from French oak maturation. The palate is full-bodied yet polished, with structured but refined tannins providing depth and longevity. Concentrated dark fruit is balanced by freshness and subtle oak integration, leading to a persistent, elegant finish. This is a classic South African red blend with both immediate appeal and the ability to develop further complexity with time in the cellar.

“A multi-clone blend of five noble varietals, this wine features a rich combination of dark fruit, plum, peppermint and nuances of tobacco leaf. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Malbec make up 94% of the blend, with Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot being small yet valuable in balancing the wine, adding to its complexity and captivating texture. This Bordeaux-style red blend is crafted from a selection of classic varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, grown in Paarl. The components are vinified separately, fermented in stainless steel, and matured in French oak barrels, resulting in a full-bodied wine with dark fruit concentration, balanced acidity and well-integrated tannins suited to ageing.
