| Food Pairing Guide | This concentrated, herb-edged Sauvignon Blanc works well with fresh, green flavours. Try it with pan-fried sea bass with salsa verde, grilled prawns with garlic and parsley, or a classic moules marinières. Its intensity and texture can handle richer seafood too, such as crab linguine with chilli and lemon, or seared tuna with a herb crust. Goat’s cheese is a natural partner, whether a simple crottin, a whipped goat’s cheese starter or a warm goat’s cheese and asparagus tart. For meat, choose roast chicken stuffed with lemon and tarragon, or lamb with a mint and pea purée. Vegetarian dishes with plenty of herbs are just as good, such as courgette and feta fritters, a green herb risotto or a pea and broad bean salad. It is also excellent on its own, lightly chilled, so its aromas can open up in the glass. |
Diemersdal Eight Rows Sauvignon Blanc is the wine that launched a winemaking career. When Thys Louw joined his father, Tienie, at the family estate in Durbanville, the young winemaker was trusted with just eight rows of vines in one of the farm’s best Sauvignon Blanc vineyards. The fruit was excellent and his talent was clear, and the wine he made from those rows became a cult favourite. Today it is still made from the same eight rows, and it remains one of the most sought-after bottles in the Diemersdal range.
In the glass it is intense and concentrated from the first sniff. Lime and green apple sit alongside fresh herbs and a distinctive note of blackcurrant. These aromas carry through to the palate, where five months on the lees add weight, texture and depth without losing the wine’s freshness. It is vibrant, layered and persistent, a characterful Sauvignon Blanc with a real story behind it. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to taste the vineyard behind the variety, and lovely with herb-led seafood and goat’s cheese dishes.
