| Food Pairing Guide | This Shiraz pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, venison and smoky barbecue dishes, while its peppery spice and dark fruit character also complement slow-cooked beef, charcuterie and mature cheeses such as Manchego or aged Gouda. |
Hartenberg Shiraz is a rich and expressive Stellenbosch red that balances ripe fruit with savoury complexity. Aromas of blackberry, dark plum and blueberry are layered with notes of cracked black pepper, spice and subtle oak. The palate is full-bodied and concentrated, with generous dark fruit, smooth tannins and vibrant acidity bringing freshness and structure. Smoky nuances and peppery spice linger on the finish, creating a powerful yet refined Shiraz with excellent food-pairing versatility.
"Plum and mulberry aromas on the nose, wrapped in a warm embrace of cinnamon, anise, and pepper. The palate is full and enveloping, with well-integrated tannins adding depth. A seamless marriage of dark fruit and spice is complemented by a smoky, meaty edge. Excellently balanced and complex, this wine is a true reflection of Hartenberg’s unique terroir."

This wine is made from 100% Shiraz grown in Stellenbosch. It is fermented in stainless steel before ageing in French oak barrels, producing a full-bodied wine with rich blackberry fruit, peppery spice and structured tannins.
Hartenberg follows regenerative and sustainable farming practices, is accredited under South Africa’s Integrated Production of Wine (IPW) scheme, and in 2025 became the first South African wine estate to achieve regenerative viticulture verification under the Ecological Outcome Verification framework.
The wine was aged for 18 months, with approximately 30% of the blend maturing in new French oak barrels to impart structure, while the remaining portion rested in seasoned French oak, allowing the fruit character to remain expressive and balanced.
