Masca del Tacco Old Vines Primitivo (originally labeled Old Vine Zinfandel, but the same juice in the bottle) is one heck of a wine. A producer that never does wines by half, this Zinfandel is intense, complex and super satisfying. The colour is bright ruby red, and there's a spectrum of complex aromas from ripe, fruity black berries, plum jam and red flowers, through to cocoa powder, mint and earthiness. Full-bodied but not cloying, the palate is enveloping, creamy and smooth, with a very long balsamic and fruity persistence. A belter of a wine from one of our favourite producers.
