Quinta da Fonte Souto Tinto is a sophisticated red wine that reflects the character of the estate’s unique terroir. The altitude of the vineyards provides freshness and balance, while the mature, low-yielding vines contribute depth and intensity. A carefully crafted blend, this wine offers layers of dark berry, plum, and subtle floral notes, enriched by hints of spice, oak, and earthy minerality. The fine tannins and well-integrated acidity create a structured yet elegant palate, making this wine both immediately enjoyable and suitable for aging. A true expression of the Alto Alentejo’s winemaking excellence.
The 207-hectare Quinta da Fonte Souto was acquired by the Symington family in 2017 and is their first vineyard outside the Douro. Lying on the slopes of the São Mamede Range at an altitude of 500 metres in the Alentejo sub-region of Portalegre, the property benefits from cooler and wetter conditions than the hot Alentejo plain. The Fonte Souto wines express the freshness and elegance provided by the altitude, as well as the structure and complexity from the estate’s extensive collection of mature, low-yielding vines.
