Blandy's 10 Year Old Malmsey Madeira is a classic expression of Madeira's richest style, combining luxurious sweetness with remarkable freshness. Aromas of dried figs, dates, orange peel and roasted nuts are layered with notes of toffee, coffee and warm baking spices. The palate is velvety and concentrated, yet the wine's hallmark acidity keeps it beautifully balanced and never cloying. A decade of ageing in oak casks using the traditional canteiro system adds complexity and depth, leading to an exceptionally long, warming finish. Once opened, this versatile fortified wine remains fresh for several months, making it a wonderful bottle to savour slowly.
This rich Madeira pairs beautifully with sticky toffee pudding, crème brûlée and dark chocolate desserts, while its balancing acidity also makes it an excellent match for blue cheeses, roasted nuts and dried fruits. It can even be enjoyed on its own as a luxurious after-dinner treat.
Made from predominantly Malvasia (Malmsey) grapes grown on the island of Madeira, this fortified wine is aged for an average of 10 years in seasoned American oak casks using the traditional canteiro method. The result is a rich, sweet style with notes of caramel, dried fruit, coffee and spice, balanced by Madeira's signature vibrant acidity.
The Blandy family is distinguished by being the only family, of all the original founders of the madeira wine trade, to still own and run their own original wine company. Throughout its long history on the island, the family has played a leading role in the development of madeira wine.
Its members continue to live in Madeira, thus maintaining a tradition that dates back to 1811 – two centuries of producing a wine of excellence.
Blandy's is committed to sustainable viticulture and long-term environmental stewardship on Madeira, working closely with local growers to preserve the island's unique wine heritage.
