Anthonij Rupert, the farm was taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-the-art winemaking facility, catapulting the farm into a prestigious wine estate and the beginnings of what is now a sprawling enterprise. The focus is on terroir specific wines and the brand is made up of an impressive portfolio of farms representing the best in grape producing locations, allowing Anthonij Rupert Wyne to adhere to the requirements of their different brands.
This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grown in the Franschhoek Valley. It is typically fermented in stainless steel before maturation in French oak barrels, producing a full-bodied wine with concentrated dark fruit, fine tannins and excellent ageing potential.
Crafted with meticulous care, this wine begins with handpicked grapes sourced from north-facing vineyards rooted in decomposed granite soils, which contribute to its distinctive minerality and elegance. Fermentation is initiated with cultured yeast in traditional wood fermenters, enhancing both structure and complexity. The wine is then matured for 24 months in French oak barrels, 50% of which are new, imparting subtle spice and a refined texture.
