| Food Pairing Guide | This Chianti Classico Gran Selezione pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled steak and wild game dishes, while its savoury character and firm tannins also complement rich pasta dishes, slow-cooked beef and mature cheeses such as Pecorino or Parmigiano Reggiano. |
San Felice Il Grigio Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a classic expression of top-tier Chianti Classico, combining the elegance of Sangiovese with the depth provided by rare native Tuscan grape varieties. Aromas of violet, blackcurrant and ripe cherry are layered with notes of tobacco, liquorice and sweet spice. The palate is full-bodied yet balanced, with ripe, succulent tannins supported by lively acidity and carefully integrated oak. Extended maturation adds complexity and refinement, while the finish remains long, savoury and distinctly Tuscan. This is a cellar-worthy red that rewards decanting and develops beautifully with age.
This wine is made predominantly from Sangiovese, typically around 80%, blended with indigenous Tuscan varieties including Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo and Mazzese, grown in Tuscany. Each variety is vinified separately in stainless steel before ageing for around 24 months in a combination of Slavonian oak casks and French oak barrels, followed by additional bottle ageing, resulting in a full-bodied wine with ripe tannins and excellent ageing potential
