Beyerskloof Diesel Pinotage is an iconic wine named in honour of the estate’s beloved Great Dane, Diesel. This exceptional Pinotage is crafted from the finest hand-selected grapes, yielding intense flavours of black cherries, plums, and dark chocolate, balanced by notes of smoky oak, leather, and spice from French oak maturation. Full-bodied with velvety tannins and a lingering finish, it epitomises elegance and power. Ideal with robust, flavourful dishes, Diesel Pinotage represents the pinnacle of Beyerskloof's winemaking dedication and innovation.
Optimum ripeness for picking was at 26°B. Once destemmed berries went through a sorting system to minimise greenness. Fermentation took place in open casks, with punch downs done every 2 hours for 4-5 days. Grapes were pressed before fermentation finished, and malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tank. The wine went into new French oak barrels for 20 months, after which only the best barrels were selected for this wine.
