La Colombaia Amarone comes highly recommended! Ripe, warm and generous aromas of plum and cherry, roasted coffee beans and hints of dried fruits. If you're still not sold, then maybe we should mention the full bodied and rich palate with flavours of wild cherry and plum, as well as hints of dark chocolate. The tannins are supple and the finish is spicy with that hallmark bite of good Amarone. An exceptional, balanced and very approachable style.
Made from a blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. The grapes are hand harvested at the end of October. The late harvested grapes are dried for four months (until January following the vintage) and then crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel for four months followed by maturation in Slavonian oak casks and small barrels for 2 years.
The illustrious Montresor family moved from France to Italy at the start of the 19th Century, and settled in the Veneto region near Lake Garda. In 1892 Cantina Giacomo Montresor was established in Verona, and remains family-owned to this day.Giorgio Montresor produces a portfolio of wines which increasingly rival the offerings of the region's more fashionable names - harnessing modern technology to craft the best wines from each site, across their 100ha of vineyard, in Valpolicella and Garda.
