South African Christmas Wine Case

The Lekker Wines South African Christmas Wine Case comprises of what I would have with my Christmas meal with family and friends... Firstly, you have to have a SA Methode Cap Classique (MCC) and the Krone Borealis is an absolute gem. Made in the traditional way (like champagne), it is an excellent bottle of bubbles made with Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc and perfect while opening those socks and soap presents.

While prepping the veg and eating canapés I would open the Vergelegen Schaapenberg Vineyard Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, it is aromatic and minerally and if you are South African, it's a real taste of 'home'.

Then with our starters (usually prawn cocktail or melon and parma ham) I included the Neethlingshof Six flowers. It is such an unusual wine blended with six different grape varieties. It is buttery, yet fruity, but the overall taste is dry. It's a bit of a curveball, but it will hopefully get you all talking about how wonderful it is and it will work well with all those starter food flavours.

On to the turkey (or nut roast), crack open the Dolomite Cabernet Franc, it's a lighter style Cabernet Franc, but more importantly it is totally underpriced for the quality of the wine in the bottle! (I think you'll find you will order more, just for everyday savouring.)

Then we have the Groot Constantia Merlot - I ummed and ahhed about a more beefy wine(especially if you are having beef) but I believe most of the family gathered around the table will get on exceptionally well with a Merlot and this one is from such an iconic estate in Cape Town.

Once we are all collapsed on the sofa with a side plate of cheese or Christmas pudding, the Muratie Ben Prins Cape Vintage Port will delight you! Only made in years with the best vintages, it's the perfect way to close out your Christmas meal.
