Monrouby Grenache Rose has a gorgeous pale salmon colour and light, fragrant red berry aromas. This Provençal style rosé is dry and refreshing, with notes of cherry, strawberries and raspberries and a hint of dried herbs. Refreshing and delicious!

Monrouby is a small village in the Languedoc, close to Pomérols, which is where the Baron de Badassière and the Vignes de l'Eglise wines are made. Winemaker Graeme Paul was impressed with the fruit from this village in 2011, so decided from then on to vinify several varieties separately.

The 2018 vintage in Languedoc started with a class winter, cold and rainy. Spring experienced two rare cold episodes which caused frost to set on the vineyard. However, May and June had heatwaves and some precipitation which encouraged vegetative growth and regrowth of the frozen parcels. The summer temperatures were high, but the vineyard did not suffer any water stress, thanks to the rain in winter and spring. Harvest took place from mid-August to mid-September.

The vineyards are located on low lying hills with the Bassin de Thau, a string of lakes which moderate the climate. There is little rain in the summer and the gentle breezes from the lakes and Mediterranean lower evaporation and reduce vine stress. The fruit was harvested in the early hours of the morning and gently pressed in a pneumatic press under CO2 in order to retain the fresh, primary fruit flavours. The wine was fermented slowly in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at 15° C. After fermentation, the wine was racked off its lees and tartrate stability occurred naturally over the winter.
