The Tenuta Ulisse Amaranta Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is better than textbook because of its intense dark fruit, velvety texture, and perfect balance of richness, structure, and regional character. Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicella Classico is a rich, velvety red with ripe dark fruit, subtle spice, and a smooth finish. The Masca del Tacco Susumaniello (one of Italy's rarest grapes) is full bodied, rich and intense, and rather impressive in its weighty bottle.
