Bove Indio Montepulciano d'Abruzzo has intense aromatic notes of prune, bitter cherry, liquorice and warm spice are layered with delicate vanilla, coffee, chocolate and balsamic overtones. Full-bodied and balanced on the palate, with charmingly structured tannins and a bold yet elegant finish.
Since the winery was founded in 1930 it has become one of the best producers in the region perfectly balancing tradition and innovation with quality and value. The estate comprises 60 hectares of well located vineyards under the watchful eye of oenologist Dott. Vittorio Festa. The low yields, rigorous grape selection, up-to-date vinification techniques and refined ageing of their red wines in oak barrels ensures a growing reputation for top-class wines. The Bove style showcases elegant, fragrant white wines and well-textured, mellow reds delivering good typicity from the native Montepulciano grape - a vine of undeniable distinction that can make wines of irresistible character with a capacity to age and supple, smooth wines eminently drinkable when young.
The vines are trained according to the traditional overhead trellis system called Pergola Abruzzese.
The grapes underwent an extended skin maceration. Fermentation and maceration took place in stainless steel tanks, the must was oxygenated in order to emphasise the fruit character and produce a softer wine. This lasted for approximately three weeks. After blending the cuvées, the wine spent 12 months in Allier oak barriques, of which 1/3 was new oak, 1/3 first year oak and the balance in stainless steel. The wine was bottled unfiltered and spent a further six months in bottle, prior to release.
